App Running Slowly or Images Not Displaying
Systematically inspect network, device storage, and app activity from least intrusive to careful actions, avoiding accidental data loss.

App Running Slowly or Images Not Displaying
Occasional stutter, slow image rendering, or delayed screen refreshes may stem from high device load, network latency, media decoding, or ongoing background processes. Observe where the delay occurs and begin with minimally intrusive checks.
Initial Quick Checks
- Allow active backup, restore, or sync processes to finish before running other resource-heavy tasks.
- If delays occur only on cloud-synced items, verify network strength and review iCloud sync alerts in Data Management.
- Close unneeded background apps and restart MononoMori.
- Verify that your device has sufficient free internal storage and that you are running the latest app version from the App Store.
- If a single image fails to open, inspect that item’s detail view and attachment status rather than deleting the entire item record.
Diagnosing Sluggish Performance
- Sluggishness isolated to AI Identification or iCloud: Check network connectivity and server status; local browsing is usually unaffected.
- Sluggishness isolated to media-dense lists: Allow high-resolution photos time to decode; verify device storage before clearing files.
- Sluggishness isolated to one specific record: Note the item name and reproduction steps to check if an oversized attachment is causing delays.
- App-wide slowness: Close background apps, verify device storage, and check whether large imports or backup tasks are underway.
Inspecting App Storage Usage
Navigate to “More” > “Data Management” > “Data Tools” > “Storage” to inspect exact allocations across Attachments, Database, Cache, and Backups. These metrics guide maintenance rather than dictating arbitrary targets.
Prudent Use of Maintenance Utilities
If storage needs to be reclaimed, select targeted maintenance actions in the Storage screen:
- Clear Cache: Frees temporary preview memory without affecting records; thumbnails will re-render upon demand.
- Clean Up Temporary Files: Reclaims space after verifying that no active imports or exports are running.
- Clean Up Orphaned Files: Cleans up abandoned media files only after confirming that important item photos are accounted for and backed up.
Never wipe databases or force-quit the app during active file operations in an attempt to boost speed.
Reporting Persistent Bugs
If performance issues persist, open “More” > “Support & Story” > “Send Feedback”. Provide your device model, iOS version, app build, steps to reproduce, and screenshots of any error banners. Omit passwords or personal private photos from feedback submissions.
